AFM Lending Library - About Us
William Potoroka Memorial Library
The library is located at 1031 Portage Avenue. This specialized library offers resources on addictions and related topics. It offers the full range of library services to the public. Membership is free and available to all Manitobans over the age of 18.
In 1980 an amalgamation with the former library of the Alcohol and Drug Education Services resulted in an expanded AFM Library named after William Potoroka, a well known Manitoba educator in the alcohol and drug abuse field. By 1983 the library contained the largest collection of current materials in addictions in the province of Manitoba.

What does the AFM Library offer?
The William Potoroka Memorial Library is the most comprehensive information source on substance use and misuse, gambling and related issues in Manitoba, offering up-to-date, reliable information on issues, trends and research in the addictions field. The collection supports and enriches all aspects of AFM programming from prevention to rehabilitation, adult education services and research. Special collections include: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Gambling, Solvent Abuse and Harm Reduction.
