Impaired Driver Program
Who should come: Individuals, due to an alcohol-related incident and required by Driver Vehicle Licensing, must access the Impaired Driver Program for an assessment before being able to have their license .
Cost: a $525.00 non-refundable charge, payable by the client at the time of first contact. The Impaired Driver Program is delivered on a cost recovery basis.
Contact: an Addictions Foundation of Manitoba office nearest to you to determine the closest location where Impaired Driver assessments are conducted.

On your first visit, please bring:
- The picture part of your driver's license showing your driver's license number
- The 9 digit personal pin number on your Manitoba health card
Assessment Process
- The individual first completes two questionnaires. An appointment is then arranged for an interview with a counsellor to assess the individual's alcohol and/or drug usage and provide appropriate referrals. Both of these steps will take approximately one hour each and may not be on the same day. The assessment is a process by which the individual's needs are identified and the most appropriate intervention strategy recommended.
- Arrangements can be made for those who cannot read or write, speak and/or understand English well. Individuals are asked to indicate this need at the time of their initial call so that any necessary arrangements can be made.
- The purpose of the program is to provide help individuals avoid future impaired driving offences.
- All programs encourage self-directed learning.
